Anyone that knows me, knows that I'm a bit of a Springsteen tragic. So anyway, when I was about 15 or 16, I Remember someone writing a poem about the Beatles using nothing but Beatles song titles and lyrics. I can't remember who that was, I think it might have been a girl from school, but honestly it could've been anyone.
Skip forward many years, and I thought a Springsteen tribute would be in order & I even managed to make it make sense, kind of.
Springsteen
In the streets of Philadelphia,
A voice emerges, singing songs of life’s thrill.
Born to run, he knew he had to be free,
The Thunder road, leading where he ought to be.
Â
Dancing in the dark, under the neon glow,
A Hungry heart, searching for love’s undertow.
In My hometown, where memories lie,
Glory days, they pass us by.
Â
A brilliant disguise, he wore on his face,
And the river of truth, flowed with grace.
Though human touch, craved for his soul,
Better days ahead, the ultimate goal.
Â
Hiding in the shadows, the darkness on the edge of town.
It’s a Lonesome day, but he’ll find a love that won’t let him down.
Waitin’ on a sunny day, when dreams align,
A Radio nowhere, but the music will shine.
Â
Working on a dream, he made it real,
The wrestler of life, fighting with zeal.
We take care of our own, in this world we roam,
Death to my hometown, we’ll rebuild it like home.
Â
With high hopes, and American skin, his spirit drawn.
So Hello sunshine, the journey’s not done,
In this song of life, the story lives on.
Glory days, they pass us by.
Coz Wendy, tramps like us, are pulling out of here to win.
And the king ain’t satisfied
Till he rules everything,
Summer’s here and the time is right,
He took a wrong turn and just kept going,
The dreams a lie if it don’t come true,
So C’mon and take your best shot
And Take care of our own, down in jungle land.
